Akademija – The Centre for Graphic Art and Visual Research

Is a part of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and as a specialized and unique institution of its sort in the region, it has a significant role in the field of printmaking and new visual media. This special segment of the Faculty of Fine Arts was created as a response to the needs of the artists, interested in the printmaking medium, since this artistic discipline insists on constant collaboration and exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as the well-equipped workshops. It was this particularity of the medium that determined the functionality of the institution, from the workshops for creating of prints in all traditional techniques, all the way to gallery space and commercial placement of prints. By organizing exhibitions of both local and international authors, international projects, workshops and artist talks, the Centre for Graphic Art presents contemporary graphic production, new aesthetic forms and keeps up with the innovations in research and expanding of boundaries of the medium, as well as the field for experimentation in graphic art. Starting from 1996 and throughout its operating, the Centre became an international artistic-creative hub for talented artists, graphic artists from all generations, reliable core for the production, collecting and displaying. A very lively laboratory for research and printmaking, actually a culture point particularly open to younger artists, eager to do research in this medium, with the assistance of experienced artists, printmakers. Centre for Graphic Art and Visual Researches consists of printmaking workshop in all traditional techniques, exhibiting gallery and sellingspace, offices and additional facilities, very dynamic publishing, exhibition and sale activities intertwine with programs of lectures, seminars and demonstrations.
