Ümit Mesci

Is a trained architect and architectural historian who studied at the Istanbul Technical University and Università Iuav di Venezia. He has worked for different institutions and organizations, where he had opportunities to establish partnerships and collaborations for various events and exhibitions. He worked for the Istanbul Design Biennial and the Pavilion of Turkey at la Biennale di Venezia (for Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts – IKSV) between 2011-2016, where he developed his research skills and gained practical experience. The exhibitions on which Mesci worked on include “The Future is not What It Used to Be” curated by Zoë Ryan (the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial – 2014); “ARE WE HUMAN?” curated by Beatriz Colomina and Mark Wigley (the 3rd Istanbul Design Biennial – 2016); “Darzanà” (the Pavilion of Turkey at la Biennale di Venezia – 2016) as well as Istanbul Modern exhibitions “Human Nature – Anthony Cragg”; “In Pursuit of the Present” (Istanbul Modern collection exhibition); “The Event of a Thread: Global Narratives in Textiles” since he started to work for the museum as Assistant Curator in July 2017. Ümit Mesci also curated the Participation of Liechtenstein at Venice Architecture Biennial in 2018.
